Description:

You will serve as a MARINE MACHINERY MECHANIC LEADER in the Mechanical Shop (930) Production Resources Department Manager (Code 901), Production Resources Department (Code 900) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

  • Ability to apply knowledge of work operations in leading mechanics concerning methods for jobs to be accomplished.
  • Ability to lead journeyman mechanics through instruction and demonstration of proper work methods.
  • Ability to apply knowledge of marine machinery mechanic systems and equipment.
  • Ability to apply good knowledge of the various components, tanks, and systems associated with naval submarines and surface ships.
  • Ability to understand operational theory, check-out procedures, and have knowledge and skill to perform marine machinery mechanic work.
  • Ability to communicate changes to workers under your leadership.
