Description:

You will serve as a non-supervisory, Senior Scientific Technical Manager (SSTM) (above GS-15), with the title of Principal Scientist for Autonomous Electro-Optic/Infrared (EO/IR) Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance & Targeting (ISRT). This position resides in the Optical Sciences Division, U.S. Naval Research Laboratory (NRL), Washington, DC.

TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS (TQs): Your resume should demonstrate accomplishments that would satisfy the technical qualifications:

TQ 1. Knowledge of electro-optic and infrared intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance and tracking (EO/IR ISRT) components, subsystems, and systems suitable for integration onto unmanned system platforms, to include knowledge of unmanned system dynamics, capabilities, communications, and processing, and their relationship to basic and applied research in compact imaging sensor development (VIS/IR/Hyperspectral/Hypertemporal), advanced signal and image processing for target detection/classification/tracking, and novel AI algorithms for coordinating one or more autonomous assets.

TQ 2. Ability to develop new concepts and architectures for the coordination of one or more autonomous assets utilizing electro-optic sensors for the purpose of accomplishing mission sets involving intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance, and tracking.

TQ 3. Skill in integrating multi-modal sensing technologies into one or more autonomous platforms and performing the relevant testing and evaluation of the resulting autonomous system.
