This vacancy is for a GS-0028-9, Environmental Protection Specialist located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, BASE NEW ORLEANS FACILITIES ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT -F in NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana.

Requirements:

To qualify at the GS- 09 grade level, your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 grade level in the federal sector. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Examples of specialized experience include performing the following types of tasks on a regular basis.

  • Understanding of the environmental regulatory and other legal requirements applicable to installation activities and operations; with emphasis on and expertise in the areas of solid and hazardous waste management, air and water environmental media, and spill prevention and response regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Participating in assigned program area installation visits by officials of regulatory agencies, local/community governing bodies, department/agency representatives and officials, and consultants - assesses reports, implements commensurate corrective action plans, monitors and tracks required corrective actions.
  • Identifying environmental compliance issues, requirements, and areas of concern within assigned program areas; develops operational controls and courses of action (COAs) to mitigate risks and enhance environmental stewardship.
