THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 5 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.This position is a Permanent GS-0083-08 LEAD POLICE OFFICER (TITLE 5), Position Description Number T0086000 and is part of the MO 131st Bomb Wing. This is a non-bargaining unit position.
Requirements:
GS-08 SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE : Must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 grade level that demonstrates your ability to plan, direct and oversee a security forces function; and supervise law enforcement work in the preservation of the peace; the prevention, detection, and investigation of crimes; the arrest or apprehension of violators; and the provision of assistance to citizens in emergency situations, including the protection of civil rights. The specialized experience must also demonstrate your ability to plan and schedule work to be accomplished by subordinates, set and adjust short-term priorities; assign work in consideration of employee skills and mission requirements; advise employees on work and administrative matters; implements methods and procedures to improve organizational performance; and identifies and assesses and revises policies and procedures as needed to find ways to improve quality, timeliness, and efficiency of work. Creditable specialized experience may have been gained in work on a police force; through service as a military police officer; in work providing visitor protection and law enforcement in parks, forests, or other natural resource or recreational environments; in performing criminal investigative duties; or in other work that provided the required knowledge and skills.Additional Conditions of Employment:
- Incumbent must be qualified in the use of required weapons, as the incumbent will be required to use firearms in performing duties. Employee is required to obtain and maintain required security clearance. Subject to annual duty position evaluation on a pass/fail standard. Must undergo initial and periodic job compatibility assessment. May be required to wear protective clothing such as coats, boots, and vests and/or chemical protective equipment, (e.g., respirator mask).
- Must be able to operate all Security Forces Vehicles and installed equipment. An appropriate, valid driver's license is required for the position. Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
- Must pass formal law enforcement training school as outlined upon selection. Incumbent will be exposed to the day-to-day dangers associated with law enforcement and security duties. Must obtain and maintain first responder training/certifications required in CPR techniques, self-aid buddy care and/or Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC), and first aid on the job and maintain annually.
- Recurring training is required to keep the incumbent knowledgeable on the updated specialized tactics, techniques, and procedures necessary for preparation and response to catastrophic events, terrorist attacks and related threats to installations.
- The work requires regular and recurring physical exertion such as running in pursuits or emergency responses, long periods of standing, walking, bending, stooping, reaching, crawling, and similar activities. Employees engage in such exertions when responding to alarms and walking foot patrols in and around buildings. This position may require common physical characteristics and abilities and dexterity and the strength to pursue and detain uncooperative suspects.
- Ability to employ 'infantry/SWAT' small unit tactics involving fire and maneuver, with rapid advancing movement between defensive positions, while wearing protective gear for extended periods of time, (e.g., Employing "Active Shooter" response tactics and techniques as a member of a small team is required).
- This position is designated as Essential Personnel and may be subject to duty in preparation for, or in response to, a state emergency or disaster declaration. This designation will not exceed 14 calendar days per year unless otherwise approved in advance by TAG.
