Description:

The Department of Transportation (DOT) Office of Inspector General (OIG) provides independent, objective reviews of the efficiency and effectiveness of Department of Transportation programs and operations, and detects and prevents fraud, waste, and abuse, and criminal violations of laws affecting DOT. OIG fulfills statutory responsibilities and supports members of Congress, the Secretary, Department officials, and the public in achieving a safe, efficient, and effective transportation system.

Requirements:

As a basic requirement for entry into the Senior Executive Service (SES), you must show in your resume evidence of progressively responsible leadership experience that is indicative of senior executive level management capability and that is directly related to the skills and abilities outlined under the Technical Qualifications and Executive Core Qualifications listed below.

You will be evaluated to determine if you meet the minimum qualifications required of the position and on the extent your application demonstrates that you possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities. TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS (TQ): The incumbent must possess the following technical qualifications.

• Demonstrated executive-level experience in directing the operations of a nationwide audit program and in managing an audit staff assigned to headquarters and field offices with responsibility for conducting aviation and aviation-related audits.

• Demonstrated executive-level knowledge of aviation programs.

• Demonstrated executive-level experience in presenting audit findings including interacting with high-level officials in Congress and DOT, building consensus and gaining stakeholder support for, and implementation of, recommendations, and supporting the OIG position when disagreements occur.

EXECUTIVE CORE QUALIFICATIONS (ECQs): Below are descriptions of the ECQs that must be clearly described in your resume.

ECQ 4: Leading People This core qualification involves the demonstrated ability to lead and inspire a group toward meeting the organization’s vision, mission, and goals, and to drive a high-performance, high-accountability culture. This includes, when necessary, the ability to lead people through change and to hold individuals accountable.

ECQ 5: Achieving Results This core qualification involves the demonstrated ability to achieve both individual and organizational results, and to align results to stated goals from superiors.
