The primary purpose of this position is to function as the Force Support Squadron (FSS) Program Support Specialist ensuring all aspects of Force Support Readiness, Contingency Operations, Honor Guard, and Mortuary Affairs meet Air Force requirements.

Requirements:

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-07, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes: (1) managing force support mission, regulations, policies and precedents which affect the use of the program and related support resources pertaining to Honor Guard, and Mortuary Affairs meet Air Force requirements; (2) using state and county laws and regulations in regards to search and recovery procedures and installation response roles and responsibilities; (3) applying and evaluating methods and techniques for search and recovery operations, and base honor guard functions; (4) providing natural disaster response procedures, training, techniques, and the use of programs, missions, and functions of the installation and to plan, schedule, and coordinate mortuary related issues and activities; and (5) working with laws, regulations, policies, and precedents affecting deployment operations. Knowledge of the theory and principles of management and organization, including administrative practices and procedures pertaining to areas of responsibility, channels of communication, delegation of authority, and routing of correspondence.

EDUCATION:
Successfully completed a master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B or J.D. in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position. COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. NOTE: You must submit a copy of transcripts.

FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-07 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-09 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:

1. Knowledge of a wide range of unit readiness, personnel, education and training, instructional systems, and/or services operations, directives, procedures and programs.

2. Knowledge of search and recovery, as well as mortuary programs, and developing emergency management procedures and installation emergency support plans.

3. Knowledge of methods, procedures, skills, and policy in evaluating and managing the installation Honor Guard program to identify and meet mission requirements.

4. Ability to recognize the inter-relationships of various aspects of operating programs to integrate and analyze information to evaluate overall program status.

5. Ability to identify, analyze, and translate complex information, make appropriate judgments, and evaluate options concerning unit readiness.

6. Ability to independently plan and coordinate travel, lodging, memorial, and funeral services in compliance with regulations, the wishes of the PADD, chaplains, Honor Guard, funeral home, commanders, and outside agencies.

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
