THIS IS A TITLE 32 DUAL STATUS POSITIONDUTY LOCATION: Theater Aviation Sustainment Maintenance Group (TASMG), Groton, CT
AREA(S) OF CONSIDERATION:
Area 1: All currently employed full-time permanent and indefinite personnelof the Connecticut Army National Guard.
Area 2: All currently employed full-time Temporary Technician personnel (Tenure 0) and all current traditional members of the Connecticut Army National Guard.
Requirements:
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training which demonstrates that the candidate has the ability to organize assignments for subordinates, estimate material and manpower needed for specific jobs; able to explain manuals and work procedures; and to prepare production records, work records and reports.SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Your resume and any other supporting documentation you wish to provide must clearly substantiate you currently possess 36 months of specialized experience in the following:
- Experience or training installing, adjusting, aligning, troubleshooting and functionally testing the various major and minor mechanical and pneudraulic systems on an aircraft during overhaul or modification.
- Experience coordinating the work of other mechanics, and scheduling maintenance to ensure completion of critical actions and optimum workflow.
- Experience demonstrating the ability to instruct lower graded mechanics, military and other personnel in the disassembly and re-assembly of crash damaged engines, transmissions, gearboxes, hydraulic components, and fuel controls sufficient for the exhibit to be returned to its shipping container.
- Experience which demonstrates the ability to plan, direct, and organize work assignments for lower grade personnel.
- Experience which required the review of work requirements and establish priorities to meet deadlines.
- Experience that provided knowledge of various lines of work performed by this function.
- Experience which demonstrates the ability to supervise or the potential to perform such duties as evidenced by the ability to communicate knowledge of general supervisory concepts, and knowledge of shop processes.
- Experience in adapting existing equipment and techniques to new situations.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to plan and organize work of the assigned organization.
- Ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to work with others.
- Ability to oversee and train subordinate supervisors, to deal objectively with workers and render sound supervisory decisions.
- Ability to devise new methods.
COMPATIBLE MILITARY ASSIGNMENT: All applications will be considered regardless of Branch/AOC/FA/MOS. Incumbent will be required to be assigned to compatible military position within 1 year of selection. The selected individual may be required to attend formal technician school training.
MILITARY GRADE (Prior to Appointment): Warrant: WO1 through CW4; Enlisted: E-6 through E-9
UNIT OF ASSIGNMENT: Any aviation unit within state
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: This position is covered by the medical monitoring program. Individual selected must undergo a preemployment physical examination prior to appointment. This position requires a security clearance (secret) which the applicant must possess or be able to obtain a clearance within one year of appointment. For positions requiring the operation of motor vehicles, candidates must have a valid state driver's license for the state in which they live or are principally employed.
CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT: Training at the National Guard Professional Education Center (NGPEC) is a mandatory condition of employment, subject to availability of resources. NGB prescribed courses at NGPEC must be completed within 6 months of assignment to this position. Failure to complete course(s) may result in reassignment or termination of full-time employment unless extenuating circumstances preclude course attendance.

- whether your continued employment would advance the efficiency of the Federal service.
Upon completion of your trial periodyour employment will be terminated unless you receive certification, in writing, that your continued employment advances the public interest.
