This position is in Nutrition and Food Services (NFS) located in a Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Lebanon, PA.Requirements:
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 03/06/2026.You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
- Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that that required application of the knowledge, methods, and techniques of the position. To be creditable, experience must have been equivalent the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience includes: experience in food service in a hospital environment; knowledge of tray assembly area procedures; using dietetics software programs; familiarity with regular and modified diets; assisting with food selections; possessing good writing skills; communicating effectively, both verbally and in writing, in person and via telephone; maintaining a high level of customer service; following verbal and written instructions; and using computer equipment, phone system, and printers. This experience must be detailed in your resume to receive credit. OR,
- Education: A bachelor's degree or 4 years of education above the high school level with major study or at least 24 semester hours in subjects directly related to the position (medical, health, etc.). This education must have been obtained in an accredited business or technical school, junior college, college or university for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. One year of full-time undergraduate study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business or technical school. - Combination: An equivalent combination of specialized experience and post-high school education as described that demonstrates your ability to perform the duties of this position. For the GS-05 , only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours may be used to combine with experience. Transcripts required, and experience must be detailed in your resume to receive credit.
- Customer Service - Works and communicates with clients and customers e.g., any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit provides, including individuals who work in your agency or in other agencies or organizations outside the Government, to satisfy their expectations. - Administration and Management - Knowledge of planning, coordination, and execution of business functions, resource allocation, and production.
- Clerical - Knowledge of filing, typing, entering data, maintaining records, taking shorthand, and using and completing forms.
