The incumbent serves as the Assistant Chief Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist position for the Diagnostic Imaging service at the Salisbury VA Healthcare System, Diagnostic Imaging Service within he W.G." Bill Hefner'' VAMC. The position assumes all administrative, personnel, fiscal, and program support functions and integrates these duties with technical supervision of lnterventional Radiology section.Requirements:

- United States Citizenship: Be a citizen of the United States. Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
- English Language Proficiency. DRTs must be proficient in spoken and written English as required by 38 U.S.C. 7402(d), and 7407(d).

- All applicants must be certified in general radiologic technology by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology, Radiography (ARRT) (R). Advanced ARRT certification is required for assignments that include computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), [or Mammography (M) duties performed independently, as applicable].
- Completion of a full-time training course of at least 24 months in duration (or the equivalent) in a post-high school diagnostic radiologic technology program, evidenced by a certificate or an associate degree, accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) or from [other accrediting agencies as recognized by the Department of Education (DOE).
Grade Determinations : 1 year of experience equivalent to the next lower grade level of GS-10.
- Qualifying experience includes: evaluates new products and equipment, making recommendations to supervisor concerning upgrades/new purchases that would improve operations. [The technologist] informs higher level management of anticipated staffing variances and informally recommends promotions, reassignments, or other personnel changes such as retention or release of probationary employees, and recognition of superior performance in the diagnostic radiologic area. [The technologist] directs the development and implementation of services and treatment to patients through the supervision, mentoring, and oversight of assigned clinical staff. Experience must demonstrate practice skills in a specialty area or in administration demonstrating progressively more professional competency and judgment.

The full performance level of this vacancy is GS-11. The actual grade at which an applicant may be selected for this vacancy is GS-11.
Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary, but does require walking between workstations within the Imaging Service. There may be extended periods of time using and sitting in front of computers. There may be periods when bending and kneeling may be required. There may be extended periods of time when there will be work in a cold computer room. Duties may require lifting and carrying computer equipment (approximately 45 lbs) such as monitors, computer processing units (CPUs) and unix processing system (UPS) products.
