This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.About the Position: As a journey level Heavy Mobile Equipment Mechanic, performs the full range of overhaul and repair work on heavy-duty mobile equipment and vehicles powered by internal combustion engines (gasoline; butane, diesel or multi-fuel).

There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element) : Ability to do the work of a Heavy Mobile Equipment Mechanic ~ without more than normal supervision. Ability to perform the common tasks of a Heavy Mobile Equipment Mechanic. Ability to remove, adjust, replace, clean, and install a variety of parts, components, and accessories to include filters, radiators, bearings, springs, shock absorbers, wheel cylinders, starter motors, mufflers, and other items of similar complexity. Ability to perform engine tune-ups and adjust brakes. Ability to assist in the removal, disassembly, repair, and reassembly of engines and transmissions. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
