About the Position:

• This position is located in Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Serves as a physician extender for the cytopathology section of anatomic pathology to providing a full range of cytological and consultative services in support of Womack Army Medical Center and associated health care facilities.

This is a Direct Hire Solicitation.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Basic Requirement for Cytotechnologist: Degree: Bachelor's or graduate (or higher level) degree with major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. This degree must be from an educational program accredited by an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes preparing daily correlation reports for review by pathologist; and assisting with specimen collection or preparation obtained by special procedures such as fine needle aspirations; and examining or evaluating the cell sample for the presence or absence of normal/abnormal cellular patterns. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

OR

Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Cytotechnology, or Biology.

OR

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify.
