This position is located at the Armed Forces Retirement Home (AFRH), Healthcare Services. The primary purpose of the position is to provide professional acute and rehabilitation/restorative nursing to geriatric residents with chronic disease.Requirements:
You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement. The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service . One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. To ensure full credit for your work experience, please indicate dates of employment by month/day/year, and indicate number of hours worked per week on your résumé.Specialized experience includes one year of experience at the GS-09 level or equivalent that includes:
Conducting patient/resident assessment; AND
Developing and carrying out nursing care plans; AND
Medication administration (oral, intramuscular, subcutaneous, intradermal, topical, rectal, intravenous, etc.); AND
Communicating patient/resident condition and changes to patient/resident, nursing personnel, physicians, and family members.
OR
Education:
Successful completion of a PhD or equivalent doctoral degree from a professional nursing educational program or related medical science field (e.g., chemistry, biology, microbiology). Degrees from Foreign Nursing Schools: Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools.
SPECIAL NOTE: Long-term care experience and/or interacting with geriatric patients is highly desired.
Registration:
Applicants must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination. In addition, they must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
CPR certification is mandatory.
