Description:

This position serves as an Inventory Management Specialist (EX) in the Commodity Management Division of the Logistics Service. Responsible for the inventory management Of au expendable supplies and and durable medical equipment (DME) in the assigned areas. Manages and controls all inventory transactions for non-expendable medical equipment requests and transactions. Utilizes performance measures to conduct forecasting and quantitative analysis. Maintains equipment inventory lists.

Requirements:

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 03/02/2026.

Driver's License Requirement: You must posses a current state issued Drivers License, ( Please do not submit a copy of your license with your application package . You will be required to show your valid driver's license at the time of your interview.)

Time-In-Grade Requirement : Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05.
For a GS-09 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-07.

The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.

Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.

Minimum Qualification Requirement

GS-07 LEVEL

  • Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Plans and reviews all inventory processes, functions, and related systems. Conducts wall-to-wall and periodic inventories. Maintains perpetual inventory accounts for expendable items. Analyzes data that impacts procurement decisions. Maintains inventory control records in an automated system. Compiles and analyzes performance measures and implements process improvements. Utilizes automated inventory management system to maintain current inventory data. Conducts effectiveness/efficiency reviews. OR,
  • Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have one full year of graduate level education or superior academic achievement. OR,
  • Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have a combination of specialized experience and graduate level education beyond a bachelors degree.


GS-09 LEVEL
  • Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-07 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Identifies and rectifies inventory management issues. Conducts short, mid and long-term advanced planning for expendable items and durable medical equipment. Performs analytical work to manage, regulate, coordinate and exercise control over expendable supplies. Analyzes and advises customers on supply/durable medical equipment purchase recommendations. Administers an expendable inventory management program. Researches and develops solutions to complex and routine problems. Performs analytical work to manage, regulate, coordinate and exercise control over expendable supplies. Or,
  • Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree; or, two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree; or, LL.B. or J.D. Or,
  • Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have an combination of specialized experience and education beyond 18 semester hours counting towards a master's degree.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Note : A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.

Physical Requirements: Work is normally accomplished in an office setting; however, due to the nature of the position and duties, may be called upon to assist in the receipt, storage and distribution of various supplies, primarily consisting of lifting light boxes generally less than 40 pounds, utilizing appropriate material handing devices, and placing items on shelves or carrying them elsewhere on station or within the catchment area. Must maintain applicable training and licensing to operate assigned equipment.
