Description:

About the Position: Serve as a Congressional Affairs Officer in the US European Command (EUCOM) Congressional Affairs (ECCA) Office, which is a special staff office that reports directly to the EUCOM Commander/Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR). The incumbent focuses on all aspects of the combatant command's engagement and communications with the US Congress.

This position is with Headquarters, United States European Command, located at the Pentagon in Washington, DC.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes:
1. Legislative & Policy Analysis:
Providing advice to senior leadership on legislative processes, congressional activities, and their potential impact on organizational missions and equities

2. Legislative Impact Evaluation:
evaluating the effects of proposed and enacted legislation to develop and implement responsive organizational strategies, programmatic adjustments, and policy changes.

3. Congressional Engagement & Communication:
Preparing a range of documents in support of congressional engagement, including briefing papers, talking points, formal responses to congressional inquiries, and materials for hearings and staff briefings.

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:


Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-13).
