This Supervisory Store Associate serves in a developmental capacity as the first line supervisor and manager of the Front-End Department of a Commissary store. They are responsible for all aspects of planning, scheduling, coordinating and controlling front end activities and personnel, and controlling all funds received and deposited daily as part of the front-end department operations. Specific assignments vary by individual store and store management requirements.Requirements:
You must meet the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) qualifications for series 1101 and additional requirements by the announcement closing date. - Plans, directs, or assigns work for employees.
- Knowledge of multiple departments within the grocery store to evaluate work, provide instruction and conduct on the job training for workers.
- Carry out daily retail grocery store functions necessary to successfully execute store operations
Additional Requirements that must be met by the closing date:
- Physical requirements : (1) Frequently lift, push, pull, carry, and handle commissary products weighing up to 40 pounds without assistance. Heavier products are moved with assistance from other workers or by weight-handling equipment (for example: manual or electric pallet jacks.) (2) Long periods of standing, walking, bending, reaching, and similar activities when taking inventory, retrieving items from the warehouse, and stocking shelves. You will attest to your ability to perform these physical requirements in the Questionnaire.
- Time-in-grade applies to the promotion of current and former federal employees who hold or have held a permanent GS position in either the competitive or excepted service in the previous 52 weeks, including current employees applying under VEOA. - For GS-7: You must have 52 weeks of Federal service at or equivalent to GS-6.
- Time after competitive appointment . Current federal civilian employees must have completed at least 90 days of federal civilian service since being selected for a nontemporary appointment from a competitive examination register of eligibles (an announcement opened to the public) or under a direct hire authority.
