This vacancy is for a GS-0501-9, Military Pay Systems Specialist located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, PPC ACCOUNTING OPERATIONS DIVISION in TOPEKA, Kansas.Requirements:
To qualify at the GS- 9 grade level, your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-7 grade level in the federal sector. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Examples of specialized experience include performing the following types of tasks on a regular basis.
- Analyzing and interpreting legislation and regulations related to military pay and personnel administration.
- Researching and resolving complex operational problems within automated pay and personnel systems.
- Auditing and reviewing military pay records for accuracy and compliance with applicable rules and regulations.
- Managing pay adjustments, voucher payments, and debt determinations for military personnel.
- Preparing and distributing large-scale payrolls (e.g., $200 million per month).
NOTE: Education can be substituted for experience at this grade level if you meet one of the following:
A. Possess a Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D in a related field of study,
OR,
B. Have a combination of specialized experience as described above and graduate education (if related). The total percentages must equal at least 100 percent to qualify for this position.
