Who May Apply: US CitizensIn order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Developing and conducting training of firefighting personnel in full range of fire protection and prevention utilizing lecture and demonstration techniques. 2) Evaluating and reporting on performance progress and training needs of the firefighters and organization 3) Performing firefighter, Emergency Medical response and fire prevention inspection duties as required. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08).
Selective Placement Factors: This position requires you to possess and maintain at the time of application the following DoD, Pro-Board, or IFSAC Firefighter II, Pumper, Aerial, Fire Officer II, Fire Instructor II, Fire Inspector II, HAZMAT Incident Commander, Health and Safety Officer and Incident Safety Officer.
This position requires you to possess and maintain Emergency Medical Technician-Basic Certification issued by the State of Maryland or National Registry Emergency Medical Technician-Basic (NREMT-B).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone -- no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
