However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element) : Ability to do the work of a(n) Maintenance Worker ~ without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common full range of maintenance duties associated with a variety of trades such as carpentry, painting, electrical, plumbing, and other trades appropriate to this position. I have performed these duties on my own initiative with only general supervision subject to occasional inspection. I am able to perform strenuous work as required by the position. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
- PHYSICAL EFFORT : Works from ladders, scaffolds, and on platforms in cramped and hard to reach places. Stands, stoops, bends, kneels, climbs, and works in awkward, tiring and uncomfortable positions. Moderate to heavy physical effort is involved, frequently lifting, moving, and carrying items up to 50 pounds while loading and unloading cargo, handling heavy equipment, parts, tools and materials, pushing wheelbarrows and running power mowers. Considerable arm movement in painting, carpentry and engineering equipment operating work.
- WORKING CONDITIONS : Works inside and outside exposed to all weather conditions. Exposed to dust, dirt, grease, oils, and noisy conditions. Inside work is usually performed on concrete floors. Area is frequently inadequately heated and cooled. May be required to work an uncommon tour of duty including evenings, holidays and weekends. Appropriate protective clothing and/or equipment is provided to minimize or eliminate hazardous conditions and its use is mandatory.
