In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience : Your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: 1) Controlling or extinguishing fires. 2) Performing emergency rescue operations. 3) Responding to and controlling hazardous materials incidents. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the Federal service (GS-07).
Additional Qualification Requirements: MUST possess and maintain the following Certifications: Firefighter I, Firefighter II, Hazardous Materials Technician, Fire Officer I, Fire Instructor I, Fire Inspector I, and a State of Utah or National Registry EMT(NREMT) certification card .
You must submit a copy of all of the above referenced certifications AND proof of age with your application package, if your application package does not contain a copy of required certifications AND proof of age your application will be marked as incomplete and you WILL NOT receive any further consideration.
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
