This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

About the Position: Serve as an Electrical Industrial Controls Mechanic at the Directorate of Public Works in Fort Riley, Kansas.

However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element) : Ability to do the work of a(n) Electrotonic Industrial Controls Mechanic ~ without more than normal supervision. This includes repairing, maintaining, and performing preventive maintenance on machinery; applying high degree of knowledge of electronic theory and circuits to include installing, repairing, overhauling, aligning, testing and maintaining equipment and/or machinery and operations testing. I work under supervision of a journey-level employee who review my work for completion. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

Physical Effort: Employee handles and carries tools, equipment, and test equipment weighing 40 pounds or less and is required to stoop, stretch, bend, kneel, and work in uncomfortable positions to reach parts of the system when modifying and adjusting sensors.
Working Conditions: Work is primarily performed inside but the employee may occasionally be required to work outside and in drafty attic spaces and cramped areas with low overheads or sudden temperature changes during maintenance or troubleshooting UMCS.
