The primary purpose of this position is to serve as an Armament Technical Training Instructor for the 363TRS. The purpose of the Armament training Instructor position is to train new Air Force airman and other personnel in both basic and advanced skills, along with associated knowledge in the aircraft armament systems career field.

Requirements:

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions, 1712 Series.

BASIC REQUIREMENT OR INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT:
Education
Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study -- education or a subject area related to the position to be filled.

OR

Experience
Specialized Experience (for positions above GS-5): Experience that demonstrated a practical knowledge of the subject area of the position and of the methods and techniques of instruction. Examples of qualifying specialized experience include:
  • Teaching or instructing in an adult education program, secondary school, college, military installation, or industrial establishment in the appropriate field(s).
  • Supervising or administering a training program.
  • Development or review of training/course materials, aids, devices, etc., and evaluation of training results.
  • Work in the occupation or subject-matter field of the position to be filled that required training or instructing others on a regular basis.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-7, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience include knowledge of principles, practices, and techniques of instruction, knowledge of training aids and devices used in training programs, and armament systems theory/construction, operation, and maintenance, knowledge of instructional design and materials development for assigned courses, and knowledge of computer applications, tests and measurements principles, techniques, and objectives.

OR

EDUCATION: Successfully completed a master's or equivalent graduate degree OR 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree OR LL.B or J.D. with a major study in education or a subject area related to the position to be filled. NOTE: You must submit copies of your official transcripts.

OR

COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Have less than the full amount of specialized experience described above; however, have completed some education as described above. Therefore, have a combination of experience and education as described above. NOTE: You must submit a copy of official college transcripts.

FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in­-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-7 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-9 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
  • Knowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques of instruction
  • Knowledge of training aids and devices used in training programs, and armament systems theory/construction, operation, and maintenance
  • Knowledge of instructional design and materials development for assigned courses
  • Knowledge of computer applications, tests and measurement principles, techniques, and objectives
  • Skill in written and oral communication
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of personnel
  • Ability to analyze problems and develop appropriate solutions

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
