This position is in the Central Supply Room of the Environmental Management Service (EMS) at the Baltimore VA Medical Center (VAMC). The incumbent is responsible for the facility housekeeping equipment and supply inventory, including receipt, storage, maintenance, and distribution of HAZMAT and cleaning products, cleaning tools, and powered equipment like vacuums and buffers.Requirements:

SCREEN-OUT ELEMENT: Your qualifications will first be evaluated against the prescribed screen out element, which usually appears as question 1 in the on-line questionnaire. Those applicants who appear to possess at least the minimal acceptable qualification requirement are considered for further rating; those who do not are rated ineligible and are eliminated. Note : A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.
Physical Effort & Work Conditions : The incumbent is often required to stand on hard surfaces for extended periods of time, and to bend, stoop, and
work in tiring and sometimes uncomfortable positions. Lifts and carries items that weigh up to 75 pounds or more and moves equipment which may be bulky and cumbersome, weighing a few hundred pounds using weight handling equipment or with assistance from other workers.
Work is performed in all areas of the medical center to include patient care areas and administrative office areas. Work is done inside or outside in areas that may be hot, damp, cold, drafty, or under dimly lit lighting conditions. Regular exposure to the possibility of cuts, scrapes, bruises, abrasions, falls, and injury from falling stock or mechanized work areas. When working in hazardous materials areas, may be subject to exposure from radiation,
toxins, explosive hazards, or chemical fumes. Work may require wearing protective clothing such as hardhats, steel-toed shoes, rubber gloves, masks, and rubber aprons. Incumbent may be required to work weekend and holiday duty tours. The Incumbent may be assigned to any shift authorized based on the needs of EMS in Baltimore.
