Description:

This position is an Archeological Technician, GS- 0102-5 working in Othello Washington for the Central Washington National Wildlife Refuge Complex.
This is a temporary position NTE (Not to Exceed) 1039 Hours.

Requirements:

Only experience and education obtained by 02/20/2026 will be considered.

In order to qualify for this position you must possess the Minimum Qualifications.

Minimum Qualification [GS-5]
  1. One (1) full year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-04 level that is equivalent in difficulty and complexity as indicated by the following examples: assisting professional archeologist in performing actual field studies; and carrying out field studies to identify cultural, historic and/or paleontological resources for planning systems regarding cultural resources; OR
  2. A Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study, beyond high school, leading to a bachelor's degree with coursework related to the position being filled; OR
  3. A combination of education and experience as described in 1 and 2 above which together equals 100% of the requirement
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
