Description:

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

This position is included under the provisions of Special Retirement Coverage (SRC) and may have both a maximum entry age and a mandatory retirement date.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which include directing the work of firefighting crews engaged in various activities to include, but not limited to, fire suppression, technical rescue, hazardous material response and containment, emergency medical response, facility fire risk surveys and public education campaigns. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

In addition to meeting the specialized experience requirement above, applicants must also possess A. DoD FIRE OFFICER III; B. DoD FIRE INSTRUCTOR II; C. DoD FIRE INSPECTOR II; D. DoD HAZMAT INCIDENT COMMANDER (IC); E. DoD AIRPORT FIREFIGHTER; F. NATIONAL REGISTRY EMERGENCY MEDICAL TECHNICIAN (NREMT) or equivalent (NC STATE CERTIFIED); G. DoD HAZMAT TECHNICIAN certified through DoD Fire and Emergency Services Certification System, International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC), or the Fire Service Professional Qualifications System (PRO-Board) in accordance with DoD 6055.06-M.
