Description:

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Domestic Defense Industrial Base Facilities and the Major Range and Test Facilities Base to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

About the Position: Perform all types of painting work on interiors and exteriors of buildings, furniture, equipment and machinery (excluding vehicle painting), using brush, spray and rollers.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element) : Ability to do the work of a(n) Painter ~ without more than normal supervision. Must possess the ability to perform common duties including any and all types of painting work on interiors and exteriors of buildings, furniture, equipment and machinery, using brush, spray and rollers. I can prepare surfaces to be coated by methods such as sanding and wire brushing and assure protection of surrounding areas. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.- Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

PHYSICAL EFFORT:
Works from ladders, scaffolds, and platforms and where the surfaces to be coated are in cramped and hard to reach places which requires incumbent to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Lifts, carries, and sets up materials and equipment that weigh up to 20 pounds. Occasionally may handle objects that weigh 40 pounds and over.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Works inside and outside. Dirt, spray, and fumes are usually present. Is occasionally exposed to bad weather. Occasionally required to wear heavy and uncomfortable protective clothing. Is exposed to cuts and bruises and occasionally to the possibility of broken bones.
