Specialized Experience:
You must have one year of specialized experience at the GS-12 or equivalent level. Specialized experience must be documented in your resume. Specialized experience is defined as: Serving as a senior technical expert and manager for complex, large-scale travel programs, such as the Defense Travel System (DTS), Temporary Duty (TDY) travel, and the Government Travel Charge Card (GTCC) Program; or Developing, interpreting, and implementing travel policies and procedures by applying a mastery of regulations like the Joint Travel Regulation (JTR) and DoD Financial Management Regulations (FMR); or Conducting comprehensive program analysis and organizational studies to resolve critical operational problems and improve program effectiveness.
Volunteer Experience : Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills, and can provide valuable training and experience that translates to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
