Description:

The United States Capitol Police (USCP) safeguards the Congress, Members of Congress, employees, visitors, and Congressional buildings and grounds from crime, disruption, and terrorism. We protect and secure Congress so it can fulfill its constitutional and legislative responsibilities in a safe, secure and open environment.

Requirements:

1. Must be a USCP Officer below the rank of Sergeant; have attained the rank of Private with Training and have successfully completed your probationary period by the closing date of this announcement.

2. Must not be in restricted leave status as of the date of selection.

3. Must be in a full and unrestricted duty status to attend, participate, and successfully complete all required training courses related to this position as of the date of selection.

4. Must be available to work flexible hours, rotating shifts and possible midnight assignments.

5. Must possess and maintain a valid REAL ID U.S. driver's license with Motorcycle Endorsement by the closing date of this announcement.

RETENTION CRITERIA

1. Successfully complete SOD Field Training Program; Motor Officer Field Training Program; Basic FLHTP Motor School; Basic Traffic Crash Investigation; and the Standardized Field Sobriety Testing (SFST) School.

2. Satisfactorily complete a one-year probationary period beginning on the date of completion of the Motor FTO Program.

3. After showing a high level of proficiency operating the FLHTP Motorcycle, officers will be required to attend a Police Motorcycle Instructor School to further benefit the Department’s needs.

4. Officers will be required to successfully pass quarterly in service training and uniform & equipment inspections.
