Secretary (OA)

Description:

This position is located at the Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center, within Environmental Management Service (EMS) Milwaukee, WI. The incumbent serves as a Secretary (OA) in the EMS office performing general clerical and procedural duties.

Requirements:

TYPING PROFICIENCY: This position requires the skills of a qualified typist. In addition to meeting the experience and/or education requirements, you must be able to type at least 40 words per minute.
PLUS
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must possess at least one (1) full year of specialized experience that equipped them with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position, and that is typically in or related to the work of this position. To be creditable, this experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-4 level in the Federal service. Specialized experience includes: receiving visitors and telephone calls to the office; scheduling appointments; coordinating meetings and conferences; preparing correspondence, reports, memoranda, and other forms of written communication; preparing travel arrangements; and maintaining files. Applicants must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.

SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE: Successful completion of (4) years of education above the high school level. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. One year of full-time undergraduate study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial or technical school. COMBINING EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Combination of successfully completed post high school education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)

Physical Requirements: The work places no special physical demands on the employee. The work includes some walking, standing, bending, and carrying light items such as paper and books.
