Requirements:

To be considered for the position, you must meet the following qualification requirements:

Basic Requirement

A. Bachelor’s degree in archival science OR bachelor’s degree with a major that includes 18 semester hours in archival science, history and/or in political science or government, and 12 semester hours in one of any combination of the following: archival science, history, American civilization, economics, political science, public administration, or government.

OR

B. Combination of education and experience - at least 30 semester hours that included courses as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

Evaluation of Experience Professional experience must have been in archival science, or in a directly related field of work such as history that involved the collection, appraisal, analysis, or synthesis of information having historical or archival values.

AND

In addition to meeting the Basic Requirements above, you must have:

Education

There is no substitution of education for specialized experience at this grade level.

OR

Specialized Experience

You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level. To be creditable, this experience must have equipped the applicant with the particular qualifications to perform successfully the duties of the position, and must typically be in or related to the position to be filled.

Some examples of this qualifying experience are:

  • Experience in developing definitive, analytical subject guides such as inventories, lists, and digest to inform users of existence and availability of record and artifacts.
  • Experience in conducting historical and photographic research to validate, update, and correct existing collection data.
  • Experience in maintaining and implementing a layout of a museum display method by selecting and editing documents for publication and exhibit, as well as a comprehensive knowledge of subject and presentation techniques.

If applicable, credit will be given for paid and unpaid experience. To receive proper credit, you must show the actual time (such as the number of hours worked per week) spent in activities.
