Description:

This vacancy is for a GS-0525-7, Accounting Technician located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, PPC RETIREE and ANNUITANT SERVICES BRANCH in TOPEKA, Kansas.

Requirements:

To qualify at the GS- 07 grade level, your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-06 grade level in the federal sector. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Examples of specialized experience include performing the following types of tasks on a regular basis.

  • Conducting detailed examinations of transactions, researching required information, and classifying accounting data for assigned accounts.

  • Processing a broad and varied range of accounting transactions, such as obligations, accrued expenditures, disbursements, and appropriation refunds.

  • Analyzing and examining accounting data to resolve difficult transactions and discrepancies by interpreting and applying regulations and policies.

  • Performing accounting research to support audit requests and responding to diverse customer inquiries.

  • Preparing financial reports, statements, and correspondence while ensuring the maintenance of internal control program requirements.
