This vacancy is for a GS-0963-7/8/9, Merchant Mariner Application Professional Qualification Evaluator located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, NMC PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATION EVALUATION SECTION I in MARTINSBURG, West Virginia.

Pay will be determined by the grade that you're found eligible and qualified for:
GS-07 $57,736 - $75,059
GS-08 $63,940 - $83,119
GS-09 $70,623 - $91,815

Requirements:

To qualify at the GS-09 grade level, your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-08 grade level in the federal sector. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Examples of specialized experience include performing the following types of tasks on a regular basis.

  • Experience evaluating merchant mariner applications for National and Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers original, renewal, raise in grade, military and foreign applications
  • Specialized knowledge of legal guidelines, regulations, policy letters, Navigation Vessel Inspection Circular, and 46 CFR
  • Ability to provide clear and concise written and oral communications with applicants, Third Parties, industry and internally

To qualify at the GS-08 grade level, your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 grade level in the federal sector. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Examples of specialized experience include performing the following types of tasks on a regular basis.

  • Experience evaluating merchant mariner applications for National and Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers original, renewal, and raise in grade applications

Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Examples of specialized experience include performing the following types of tasks on a regular basis.

  • Experience processing merchant mariner applications for renewal of all endorsements held, including original and raise of grade national endorsements and issue credentials to those fully qualified
  • Specialized knowledge of legal guidelines, regulations, policy letters, Navigation Vessel Inspection Circular, and 46 CFR
  • Ability to provide clear and concise written and oral communications with applicants, Third Parties, industry and internally
