This position is located in the Nevada Field Office, Assistant Manager for Environment, Safety and Health. Position responsibilities include providing oversight of Nevada National Security Site (NNSS) nuclear facilities and nuclear operations that pose potential criticality concerns. The incumbent serves as the Nuclear Criticality Safety Engineer (NCSE) and is responsible for implementation of DOE Orders related to criticality safety through contractual agreements and contract management.Requirements:
To meet the basic qualification requirements for General Engineer/Physical Scientist, EN-0801/1301-04, in addition to meeting the educational requirements for this position, a candidate's application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower NNSA Demonstration Project pay band or GS grade in the Federal Service, i.e., EN-03, GS-13, or NQ-03 in managing or conducting oversight of the implementation of safety management programs for high-hazard facilities (e.g., nuclear, chemical, explosives) to ensure regulatory compliance of facility operations.Examples of Qualified Experience:
- Experience conducting oversight activities of high hazard operations
- Experience as a subject matter expert implementing or evaluating safety management programs for high-hazard facilities (e.g., nuclear, chemical, explosives)
- Experience with developing Documented Safety Analysis (DSAs)/Technical Safety Requirements (TSRs), implementing, or performing oversight of 10 CFR 830 requirements.
- Experience with conducting formal audits and assessments of high-hazard facilities or activities independently, leading teams, or participating as a Team Member.
