Description:

This vacancy is for a GS-0101-13, Volunteer Management and Family Readiness Programs Manager located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, Office of Support Services in Washington, District of Columbia.

Requirements:

Basic Requirements: This position has a positive Education Requirement in addition to at least one year of Specialized Experience or substitution of education for experience or combination (if applicable) in order to be found minimally qualified. Transcripts must be submitted with your application package. You MUST meet the following requirements:

Degree: behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position.

OR

Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.

OR

Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.

To qualify at the GS-13 grade level, your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 grade level in the federal sector. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Examples of specialized experience include performing the following types of tasks on a regular basis.

  • Program Management - Developing requirements for, advises, and presents regarding standardized training required for work life program staff, unit family readiness representatives, and volunteers.
  • Policy and Procedures - Developing policy and training requirements, data collection, trend analysis, legislative initiatives, and technical oversight of field Work-Life staff through and in coordination with the programs.
  • Training - Developing requirements for standardized training for volunteer management and family readiness programs.
  • Working with Military Spouses - Serving as the expert for all issues related to volunteer management and family programs that support unit readiness, to include but not limited to a volunteer family Ombudsman Program, spouses' organizations, such as unit clubs, and national spouses' clubs council, and unit family readiness programs with a focus on spouses.
