Requirements:
GS-7 : To be qualified at the GS-7 level, you must meet at least ONE of the following conditions, as defined below: Specialized Experience, Education, OR a Combination of Education and Experience.- Specialized experience : One full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-5 level. Specialized experience is defined as experience performing projects and assignments involving official records including official electronic media; maintaining file arrangement systems, filing procedures, and filing techniques of official records; entering information into an electronic recordkeeping system; organizing and archiving physical and electronic files; retrieving information using query routines or from hard copy reports; and reviewing legal documents to determine appropriate coding and data entry.
- Education : One of the following types of education in a related field (e.g., Business Management, Public Administration, or Computer Science): one full year of graduate level education leading to a Master's degree or higher; OR a completed Bachelor's Degree with Superior Academic Achievement (see definition of Superior Academic Achievement in the "Education Section" of this vacancy announcement). Education must be obtained in an accredited college or university and must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the duties of the position.
- Combining Education and Experience : Combinations of successfully completed graduate education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements. To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of graduate education by 18. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify.
- Specialized experience : One full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-7 level. Specialized experience is defined as experience performing the following types of duties: entering information into an electronic recordkeeping system; identifying and maintaining Federal records according to established records schedules; performing analysis of record keeping systems to ensure accuracy of data entry; performing studies on the design of types of records, filing systems, procedures, and techniques; developing or requesting new or modified reports; and reviewing files for missing documentation or information.
- Education : One of the following types of education in a related field (e.g., Business Management, Public Administration, or Computer Science): A Master's or equivalent graduate degree (such as an LL.B. or J.D.); OR 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree. Education at the graduate level must be in an accredited college or university and must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the duties of the position.
- Combination of Education and Experience : Combinations of successfully completed graduate education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements. In order to qualify based on a combination, graduate education must be in excess of 1 full year. To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of graduate education by 18. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify.
- Applicants with an understanding of the criminal justice system, either state or federal, are preferred, but not required; and
- A cover letter describing your interest in the position is strongly encouraged, but not required.
Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP)- The ICTAP provides eligible displaced Federal competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies.
