About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the Hobby Complex at Wright-Patt AFB. Operates and maintains the Wood Working Skills Center for patron use. Uses a wide variety of professional/industrial power tools, hand power tools, manual hand tools.Frequently lifts or moves objects weighing up to 40 pounds. Continuous standing, walking, frequent stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling and bending.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.
Qualifying Experience:
Must have experience which demonstrates knowledge of wood crafting methods and techniques to make and repair a variety of wooden items with unique and intricate shapes and designs. Knowledge of the properties and characteristics of a wide variety of woods, gluing, and bonding agents and other woodworking materials. Ability to compute and ensure consistency of dimensions on interlocking parts. Knowledge of safety regulations, practices and procedures. Knowledge of set up, operation and maintenance of precision wood crafting machines and woodworking hand and power tools. Ability to instruct and assist wood patrons. Requires frequent standing, stooping, bending, and arm movements. Frequently lifts and carries items weighing up to 45 pounds. Must have ability to communicate both orally and in writing. Must possess skill in dealing with the public. This is a position of trust. Incumbent must satisfactorily complete a favorable Tier 1 background Investigation.
