Description:

This position is located in the Architect of the Capitol, Office of Safety and Code Compliance, Safety Division. The Director of the Safety, Occupational Health and Accessibility Division is responsible for the total range of the division’s program responsibilities, including planning, organizing, directing, controlling and managing both the programs as well as the resources assigned to the Division.

You must meet the United States Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) qualification requirements (including specialized experience and/or educational requirements) for the advertised position. Specialized experience : is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level.

Candidates for the GS-15 grade level must have at least 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower (GS-14) grade level in the Federal service.

Specialized experience for this position s having experience that demonstrates all of the following:

  • Establishing safety and occupational health program goals and objectives to ensure safe and healthful working environment;
  • Overseeing compliance with the Occupational Safety and Health program and requirements;
  • Developing or implementing programs to reduce the frequency, severity, and cost of accidents and occupational illnesses;
  • Developing and recommending safety and occupational health policy to higher levels of management; and
  • Auditing processes, products, or systems for compliance with established safety and occupational programs/policies.
