This position is located in Acute Nursing Inpatient Division at the Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center (695) in Milwaukee, WI - a complexity level 1a VHA facility. The primary purpose of this position is for the coordination and monitoring of Acute Nursing Inpatient administrative programs. The duties include performance improvement activities, policy development, budget and financial management and other administrative functions.Requirements:
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 01/29/2026.Time-In-Grade Requirement : Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-9 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-7. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.
GS-9 LEVEL GRADE REQUIREMENTS:
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE : Must have one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-7) in Federal service that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. Specialized experience includes knowledge of the principles and practices of budget administration and analysis; including preparing, justifying, reporting on, and executing the budget; and the relationship among program, budget, accounting, and reporting systems. Uses computers, software applications, databases, and automated systems to accomplish work. Objectively analyzes and evaluates an issue in order to form an opinion/judgment/conclusion; uses logic and reasoning to research, interpret and apply information such as regulatory and/or procedural guidance; identifies the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems; integrates information into the development of a resolution. Inspires, motivates, and guides others toward goal accomplishment; coaches, mentors, and challenges subordinates; adapts leadership styles to a variety of situations; models high standards of honesty, integrity, trust, openness, and respect for the individual by applying these values to daily behaviors.

Education :Must have successfully completed master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. (TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED)

Combination of Experience and Education : Must have successfully completed an equivalent combination of experience and education as described above. Such education and experience must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. (TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED)

Note : A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary, although some slight physical effort may be required. This work may also include walking distances between buildings, carrying/ lifting small and/or lightweight office type equipment (e.g. telephones, audiovisual equipment, conference call equipment, etc.).
