Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience GS-07: One year of specialized experience which includes: (1) experience managing a security guard force; (2) experience controlling access of vehicles, visitors and pedestrians into a facility such as a military installation; (3) experience using automated systems to query and verify suitability for visitor entry into a facility such as a military installation; (4) experience transcribing data using special codes in accordance with federal, and state regulations and (5) experience dealing with difficult customers who may be found ineligible for access. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).
