Description:

The United States Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Florida's (USAO-SDFL) mission is to enforce and defend the laws of the United States of America through the prosecution of criminal cases brought by the Federal government; the prosecution and defense of civil cases in which the United States is a party; and the collection of debts owed to the Federal government that are administratively uncollectible.

Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: To be considered minimally qualified for this position, you must demonstrate that you have the required specialized experience and/or education for the respective grade level in which you are applying:

To qualify at the GS-11 level, you must possess:

Specialized Experience: At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 level in the Federal service performing (obtained in either the public or private sectors) (2) of the (3) duties listed below:
  • Providing technical advice and assistance in at least two or more of the following areas of human resources: recruitment and placement, position classification, employee relations, performance management, employee benefits, and/or human resource development;
  • Serving as a consultant to management on human resources matters to provide effective solutions to a variety of difficult human resources cases or problems;
  • Researching new human resources policies and procedures to assist senior specialists with preparing procedures or instructions.
OR
Successful completion of one of the following types of education in a related field, such as (list fields): a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree; or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree; or possession of a LL.M degree. Graduate level education must demonstrate the competencies necessary to do the work of the position. (MUST SUBMIT YOUR COLLEGE TRANSCRIPTS.)

OR
A combination of the above described graduate education and specialized experience. To combine education and experience, determine the applicant's total qualifying experience as a percentage of the experience required for the grade level. Then determine the applicant's education as a percentage of the education required for the grade level. Finally, add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify an applicant for that grade level. Note that only graduate education in excess of 2 years can be used in the combination. (MUST SUBMIT YOUR COLLEGE TRANSCRIPTS.)

Specialized Experience:
At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in the Federal service performing (obtained in either the public or private sectors) (3) of the (4) duties listed below:
  • Providing technical advice and assistance in at least two or more of the following areas of human resources: recruitment and placement, position classification, employee relations, performance management, employee benefits, and/or human resource development;
  • Serving as a senior consultant to management on personnel management matters to resolve controversial, complex, and very difficult types of human resources problem cases;
  • Coordinating and/or preparing responses to external program review findings and recommendations regarding sensitive human resources issues;
  • Reviewing and/or interpreting new human resources standards and guidelines to determine organizational procedure updates.

TIME-IN-GRADE REQUIREMENTS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-09 is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-11 level. One year at the GS-11 is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-12 level.
  • You must submit your SF-50 that shows Time-in-Grade eligibility and reflects your title, series, and grade. No award SF-50 will be accepted; recommended SF-50s include promotions and step increases (within grade increases) .
