You will serve as a Foundry Worker in the Foundry Section (1440.1), Production Division (1440), Naval Foundry & Propeller of of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.Requirements:

Assist with preparation of castings for machines and inspection by removing gates, risers, pins, or defective areas using air powered tools, as well as saws and blasting equipment. Assist with mixing cement for use in the molding process. Assist with operating hand grinders, power driven swing grinders, metal band saws, and abrasive cutoff saws to produce required finish. Assist grinding down welds and cleaning off finished castings. Ability to understand the characteristics of metal to determine the proper tools and methods to be employed. Assists in charging, operating and maintaining foundry furnaces and ladles that are used to melt and pour a variety of metals and alloys. Assists with Preparing castings for machining and inspection by removing gates, risers, fins, and/or defective areas using power tools, saws, blasting equipment, and pneumatic hand tools. Operates hand grinders, power driven swing grinders, metal band saws, abrasive cut-off saws, and diamond wire rope saws. Cleans ladles and furnaces after use, chipping away loose metal and debris.
