Description:

This position is part of the Office of Technology Commercialization, Department of Energy. As an Director, National Laboratory Programs, you will coordinate strategic partnership efforts and administer various programs and initiatives to accelerate the development and commercialization of mission-relevant technologies.

BASIC REQUIREMENT:

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-14) in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as meeting ALL of the following:

  1. Leading and providing authoritative technical and strategic direction on complex issues related to technology transfer, commercialization, and innovation, advising senior executives and guiding enterprise-wide initiatives that advance public-private partnership across the National Laboratories, Plants & Sites
  2. Leading and managing large, multi-stakeholder programs advancing DOE's technology transfer and commercialization mission, directing major initiatives and developing models and metrics to measure and improve National Lab performance and outcomes.
  3. Leading Congressional reporting efforts involving developing strategy documents and managing data collection from National Labs and convenes practitioners across the National Lab complex.
  4. Supervising, managing, or leading a team of professional scientists, engineers, or program managers, involving responsibilities such as setting priorities, evaluating performance, developing staff, and resolving significant interpersonal or technical conflicts.

Examples of qualifying unpaid experience may include: volunteer work done through National Service programs (such as Peace Corps and AmeriCorps); as well as work for other community-based philanthropic and social organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
