MAINTENANCE WORKER (MVO)

Description:

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DOD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

About the Position: As a maintenance worker helper incumbent will perform a variety of trades or crafts associated with general maintenance and repair functions.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element) : Ability to do the work of a(n) MAINTENANCE WORKER (MVO) ~ without more than normal supervision, the ability to perform various manual labor tasks, use and operate a variety of hand and power tools; repair, install, or replace plumbing and electrical fixtures; apply building principles when working with concrete and carpentry; perform grounds maintenance - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

• PHYSICAL EFFORT

The incumbent is frequently required to lift and carry moderate to heavy (over 50 pounds) boxes, tools, equipment and exert moderate physical effort is operating hand foot controls of equipment. Work also requires considerable standing, stooping, bending, walking, kneeling, climbing and working in uncomfortable and tiring positions.

• WORKING CONDITIONS

Work is performed primarily outside in all types of weather (e.g., heat, cold, and below freezing temperatures, rain, snow, wind, etc.) and usually in a dirty, dusty and/or greasy environment. Incumbent is exposed to the possibility of broken bones, electrical shocks, burns, cuts bruises, maimed fingers and scrapes.
