Description:

This position is assigned to the Non-Appropriated Fund (NAF) Fitness, Sports, and Deployed Forces Support Branch; Fleet Readiness; Commander, Navy Installations Command (CNIC); Naval Weapons Station Seal Beach. The primary purpose of this position is to plan, manage, and administer a comprehensive, year-round fitness, recreational sports, and aquatics program, and the associated facilities used in conducting these programs.

Requirements:

  • Knowledge of a wide range of principles, concepts and techniques that govern physical fitness programs which includes knowledge of exercise science, strength conditioning, nutrition, weight loss/control, cardiovascular endurance, exercise requirements and projected results.
  • Knowledge of bio-mechanics, fitness testing and exercise prescription supplemented with a knowledge of proper procedures in the use of strength training equipment, nutrition, exercise, physical fitness programming and testing equipment.
  • Skill in planning and executing a comprehensive fitness, aquatics, and/or sports program that includes a variety of fitness and aquatics activities and individual and team sports.
  • Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and kinesiology as related to exercise and physical fitness.
  • Knowledge of military physical fitness standards and testing procedures.
  • Knowledge of the physical and psychological factors that impact training, performance and recovery of individuals and team sports.
  • Ability to perform the full range of supervisory duties.
  • Knowledge of CNIC's EEO policy and procedures.
  • Knowledge of NAF and/or APF budgeting processes including ability to prepare budgets.
  • Skill in the use of Microsoft Office Programs (e.g., Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook).
  • Knowledge of safety, fire and environmental regulations and procedures.
  • Ability to develop and effectively deliver presentations and/or training.
  • Skill in developing and adapting new methods, approaches and procedures for the most effective management of a fitness program.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
