Specialized Experience:
You must have one year of specialized experience at the GS-13 or equivalent level. Specialized experience must be documented in your resume. Specialized experience is defined as:
Serving as senior authority and subject matter source on strategic communications planning, programs, policies and initiatives; or
Managing, developing, communicating, and improving agency-level strategic communication and messages; or
Leading and managing initiatives for improving agency-level strategic planning and communication, culture, structure, and business practices; or
Experience in writing and/or editing a variety of materials for higher level review and approval (e.g. speeches, talking points, congressional testimony, web content, and executive memorandums/correspondence).
Volunteer Experience : Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills, and can provide valuable training and experience that translates to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
