This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for DIB MRTFB to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive serviceAbout the Position: As an Ammunition Inspector you will serve in a developmental capacity receiving on-the-job and formal training and performing progressively more difficult and responsible assignments and upon management approval, promotion to the WG-09, to the full performance WG-10.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Ammunition Inspector without more than normal supervision. Experience assisting in conducting inspections of all types of ammunition, missiles and similar materials and/or conducting cyclic inspections on lightning protection system (LPS) for all structures that maintain and store explosives. Assisting in performing function tests on various high explosives and munitions. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
- Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision
- PHYSICAL EFFORT: Work involves lifting and carrying of items weighing up to 45 pounds; working on production lines at rhythmic pace for extended periods; moving and replacing components; loading and unloading items, etc., including standing, reaching, bending, stooping, and manipulating parts, and using machines and hand tools.
- WORKING CONDITIONS: Work inside and outside; and is subject to extreme weather conditions and exposure to dirt, grease, and noise from machinery. Works with and in close proximity to unusually hazardous materials; may require use of a respirator due to odors or fumes. Must exercise extreme care to prevent fires, explosions, etc., that could result in serious injury, dismemberment, and/or loss of life to self-and/or other workers. Subject to hazards resulting from operation of industrial and production equipment, from assembly operations, or from working around powered conveyors, etc., where accidents could result in serious injury. Is required to wear protective clothing which is specially made and treated for working on and around explosives (safety shoes, glasses, gas masks, coveralls, etc.
