THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.
This National Guard position is for a Surface Maintenance Mechanic (Title 32) (Permanent), Position Description Number D1195000 and is part of the VA G4, National Guard.

WHO CAN APPLY:
GROUP I - In order to be eligible for this position you must be an Enlisted Member (E1/PV1 - E7/SFC) currently employed (permanent) in the Virginia Army National Guard Military Technician Program.
GROUP II - All qualified Virginia Army National Guard Male/Female Enlisted Member (E1/PV1 - E7/SFC), regardless of employment status (Traditional, Military Technician or AGR). To be considered as a Group II applicant, proof of appointment/enlistment in the Virginia National Guard must be attached if the appointment/enlistment occurred within 60 days prior to, or during, the advertisement period.
GROUP III - Individuals eligible for membership in the Virginia Army National Guard.
Military Grades : Enlisted Member (E1/PV1 - E7/SFC)
GENERAL EXPERIENCE : Applicant must have experience or training which demonstrates the ability to troubleshoot, repair, maintain, inspect, and/or overhaul a variety of complex combat, tactical, commercial, and special purpose vehicles and equipment having complicated mechanical and non-mechanical systems with a variety of interconnected systems.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE : Applicant must have at least 18 months of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the WG-10 level, or equivalent pay band in other pay systems in the Federal government. This experience may also have been obtained in the private sector, but must demonstrate that it is comparable to the WG grade indicated. This experience must include activities such as:
- Experience performing maintenance, troubleshooting, and major repair on heavy-duty mobile equipment, combat, tactical, and automotive vehicles.
- Experience troubleshooting equipment with a variety of the mechanically complex major systems and diagnoses difficult performance problems and the cause of mechanical failures by means of visual and auditory checks, uses test equipment such as engine analyzers, compression testers, voltmeters, ohmmeters, pressure gauges and computer diagnostic tools.
- Experience removing and disassembling engines and complex major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, and fuel, hydraulic, and oil pressure systems.
- Experience independently performing repairs and maintenance functions
