Maintenance Mechanic (seasonal)

Description:

This position is located in a National Park Service Unit. The primary purpose of the position is to perform building and/or utility maintenance and operation duties.

Open to the first 65 applicants or until 01/12/2026 whichever comes first. Applications submitted by 11:59 (EST) on closing day will be considered. The typical seasonal entry-on-duty period is April-December but can be variable during these months. Anticipated Entry on Duty: April 2026.

Requirements:

To qualify for this position, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors:

1. Ability to do the work of a Maintenance Mechanic, WG-4749-10, without more than normal supervision. (SCREEN OUT)
2. Knowledge of equipment assembly, installation repair, etc.
3. Technical practices (theoretical, precise, and artistic)
4. Use of measuring instruments
5. Ability to use and maintain tools and equipment
6. Ability to interpret instructions, specifications, etc.
7. Knowledge of materials

• The incumbent of this position must possess and maintain an EPA Section 608 of the Clean Air Act Certification card and EPA number.

You must include months, years and hours per week worked to receive credit for your work and/or volunteer experience. One year of specialized experience is equivalent to 12 months at 40 hours per week. Part-time hours are prorated. You will not receive any credit for experience that does not indicate exact hours per week or is listed as "varies". Experience listed as full-time will be credited at 40 hours per week.
