You will serve as a NONDESTRUCTIVE TEST EXAMINER in the NON-NUCLEAR INSPECTION AND NDT DIVISION, QUALITY ASSURANCE OFFICE of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD.Requirements:

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO INSPECT:
- Performing inspections of structural welds, pressure vessel welds, seal welds, shielding and special purpose lead, castings, forgings using Nondestructive Testing (NDT).
- Drawing sketches showing clarity, details and proportion, and making accurate measurements.
- Visually inspecting weld surface conditions to determine proper contouring, blending, and smoothness.
- Using basic mathematics, geometry and algebra.
- Reading and interpreting drawings.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
