About the position: This position will be assigned to the Barber/Beauty Shop at the Air Force Academy, Colorado.

This position does include benefits
  • Must be able to lift objects weighing up to 15 pounds.
  • Subject to shocks, burns, and exposure to skin conditions.
  • Requires prolong periods of standing, bending, reaching, light lifting and dexterity of fingers and hands.
  • May be placed on forced leave during shop closures for Thanksgiving Break, Winter Break and Spring Break.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Qualifying Experience:
  • Satisfactory completion from a certified school of Barbering or Cosmetology.
  • If a graduate of a School of Barbering, the applicant must have progressively responsible experience as a Beautician.
  • Must have recent experience servicing all types of hair to include cutting, up dos, styling, perming, relaxers, coloring (to include balayage and ombre), box braids, twist, corn rolls, extensions, straightening hair with iron, product usage; and experience doing manicures, pedicures, dip nails, facials and waxing.
  • May be required to work an abnormal tour of duty.
  • May be detailed to other work during periods when the shop is not operational.
  • May be required to attend one or more seminars each year to remain current in the state-of-the-art hair care.
