THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.

This National Guard position is for a AIRCRAFT ENGINE MECHANIC SUPERVISOR, Position Description Number D1634000 and is part of the KS 190 Air Refueling Wing, Forbes AFB, Kansas Air National Guard.

Requirements:

Military Grades : E7 through E8

Compatible Military Assignments : All AFSC's must be able to obtain 2A590

GENERAL EXPERIENCE : Must have experience or training that has provided the ability to perform assembly and disassembly operations and make prescribed modifications to aircraft engines, engine assemblies, and accessories in accordance with technical specifications, procedures, and requirements. Experience using hand and power tools common to the trade.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE : In addition to the journeyman level knowledge, must have experience demonstrating the ability to plan, direct, and organize work assignments of lower grade personnel. Experience which required the review of work requirements and establishing priorities to meet deadlines. Experience that provided knowledge of various lines of work performed by this function. Experience which demonstrates the ability to supervise or the potential to perform such duties as evidenced by the ability to communicate knowledge of general supervisory concepts, and knowledge of shop processes. Experience in adapting existing equipment and techniques to new situations.

PHYSICAL EFFORT: The incumbent is required to climb, stoop, stand, bend, stretch, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions and requires moderate to strenuous physical exertion. Incumbent lifts equipment and components weighing from 20 to 50 pounds, and may be required to lift items weighing up to 100 pounds with assistance from other workers or weight handling equipment.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Works assignments are performed indoors and outdoors in inclement weather, on icy, wet, and slippery ramps, aircraft surfaces and work stands, and in temperature extremes. The incumbent is subject to the dangers from exposure to toxic fumes, high pressure air and fluids, fast actuating metal aircraft surfaces (landing gears, speed brakes, missile doors and flaps), engine noise, heat blast, intake suction, rotating propellers, explosive munitions, electrical voltage, cartridge actuating devices, liquid oxygen, fire or explosion of aircraft fuels, lubricants, paints and solvents.
